Mr. D Choudhury, the learned counsel submitted that the petitioner has

been duly intimated that he would not like to further pursue with the instant
writ petition on the ground that there has been no instruction received from the
petitioner. To the said effect, he has filed an affidavit enclosing therewith the
communication dated 31.07.2024 as well as the postal receipts.
2. Further to that, it has also been mentioned that the said notice was duly
served by the petitioner on 10.08.2024.
3. On the other hand, Mr. R Dhar, the learned counsel appearing on behalf of
the Department of Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes, Government of
Assam has submitted that nothing remains to be adjudicated in the instant writ
petition taking into account the amendment made to the Thengal Kachari
Autonomous Council Act, 2005, vide the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council
(Amendment) Act, 2024 (for short, the Act of 2024), whereby the entire concept
of village council has been omitted.
4. This Court has also perused the Act of 2024 and from a perusal thereof, it
appears that nothing further remains in the instant writ petition.
5. Taking into account the above, the instant writ petition, therefore, stands
closed as it has become infructuous.
6. Mr. PK Munir, the learned counsel appears on behalf of the respondent
